Why Study?

The Level 3 Applied General Certificate for Early Years, Childcare and Education enables learners to develop knowledge and understanding of child development, education and care, which will allow them to progress to further education to study courses like midwifery and child psychology or join the workplace as an apprentice. This qualification is the equivalent, in size and rigour, to that of an A Level. Students will get a chance to put Theory into practice through voluntary work in settings and to develop personal and profession goals through creating their own professional development plan throughout their course.

What can I do with it?

This qualification will prepare learners and assist them to progress to higher education and apprenticeship courses such as an Advanced Apprenticeship for the Children and Young People’s Workforce or Early Years Educator, which leads to vocationally related employment in early years and childcare with a licence to practice.

Early years, Childcare and Education works well with Biology and Psychology.

This course will allow you to work on organisation skills as well as time management and working with others in creative and imaginative way.

What will I study?

Over the 2 year course there will be 5 units plus 2 additional units that are set by the exam board. The first being an exam which will be based around unit 1 and 2. The external controlled assessment is based around all 5 units of study.
