Why study

This course provides a specialist, work-related programme of study which covers the key knowledge and practical skills required for those who have already decided the specialist area they wish to study. It has been set up for those students who have a real interest in the theoretical and practical aspects of sports development, coaching and fitness. It will give you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and investigate a wide range of sport, exercise and coaching aspects.


What can I do with it?

Students wishing to develop a career in the leisure industry, sports centre management or coaching will find this Level 3 Cambridge Technicals course a beneficial foundation.  The Cambridge Technical provides a strong base for progression to university, apprenticeships or work and are recognised for UCAS tariff points.


Subject combinations

The Extended Certificate is the equivalent of one A Level, so depending on which option you follow you might also choose subjects like Biology, Theatre Studies or Health and Social Care.



The vocational nature of the course allows for links with local leisure industry and clubs through the Sports Organisation and Development Unit.
